Vacation, Water Park & Dad's Surgery

So we went to Vermont (12 hr drive) this past weekend. We had a good time, very busy and full of lots of time in the rented Jeep Liberty, which is very bouncy. We headed out Thursday around 4pm and finally arrived Friday at noon, we stopped to sleep around midnight. My dogs, especially Sarge, did not care too much for us being gone. He wouldn't sleep until 4 in the morning the first night. He barked at every car that drove past and whined a lot. He got better the longer we were gone. We had rehearsal on Friday evening, I coordinated it and then went to the rehearsal dinner. I met lots of nice people and it was good to put faces with names, since I have been hearing about these people for a long time. The wedding went very smoothly, no glitches. The reception was fun and on the roof of a hotel in their ballroom. Everything was very pretty. Unfortunately, we could not stay and enjoy Vermont and all it has to offer, like Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream Factory and little quaint restaurants and shops. We hit the road about 4:30pm on Saturday. I did get to take a Ferry for the first time both going to Vermont and coming home. It was really nice and exciting. We took a detour in Camden, New Jersey on Saturday night at about 1am. Their were no hotels available and we ended up driving a ways out of our way since you can't take left hand turns in New Jersey and it took me a while to explain to Jared that you have to take "Jug Handles" on the right to turn left. Susan (our gps lady) took us down some back roads and we eventually got back on track and stopped at 2am to sleep for about 4 1/2 hours. We got back to Norfolk around 12pm. It was a fun trip and I was glad to be able to help our dear friends Josh & Kara.

Monday we went to Water Country USA. It was supposed to storm but we never got anything more than a drizzle. However that caused it to be a perfect day to come. It wasn't too hot, mostly cloudy but not cold. There was only about 1000 people in the theme park vs. a normal day of 11,000. We had zero lines to wait in and road the rides as many times as we wanted. It was a lot of fun, especially for walking around barefoot in other people's fungus and for swimming in other people's pee. I have a slight dislike to those two things. It turned out to be a great day with lots of good, funny memories.

My Dad had prostate cancer surgery yesterday, where this robot called DiVinci went into his stomach in six little places and while operated by a doctor took out his prostate. Everything went really well and he is now 100% cancer free. He is very sore and his uvula is swollen causing him to feel like he is choking when he lies down. Other than that though he is doing well. Yay, for modern technology. He will be getting out of the hospital today and will be laid up for about 6 weeks. He is expecting to be pampered. Mom of course doesn't know what to do b/c she is used to being pampered and this morning she joked that she didn't know how to turn on the iron, which isn't far from the truth. She might as well forget trying to vacuum (that is another story).

Today I am exhausted from all of this excitement. I need sleep bad and there is no extra time for it. Laundry is piling up, yard work must be done and all my volunteer jobs need me. Is it Saturday yet?
